Cynthia Gentle is one of the most exciting new voices on the jazz, blues soul scene. She is based in Edinburgh, and this city of culture’s influence is reflected in her performance, as is a childhood diet of her father’s eclectic collection (Bay City Rollers to Sankomota and everything in between). She cites the great ladies of song, such as Miriam Makeba, Ella Fitzgerald and Anita Baker, but she has let life itself provide a wider source of inspiration.
Notable recent appearances:

World Aids Day, organised by Waverly Care

The National Black Police Association Awards Ceremony

Miss Zimbabwe 2010 & 2011 (backed by the fabulous Corvettes)

Opening Ceremony of the Africa in Motion Film Festival (backed by the Truetones)

She also appeared on Channel 4's Edinburgh edition of Come Dine With Me, and has accepted a part in a movie, where she will play an immigrant mother coming to terms with having an openly gay teenage son..
